Good, tart, mineral packed apple cider vinegar (I prefer the organic Bragg with mother variety – unfiltered kind), combined with sweet, energy-laden honey, is a supportive measure that encourages the body to defend itself from sickness.

Perhaps the best thing is that these remedies avoid harm. Honey and vinegar are pure, natural foods, not drugs. Many feel they have the power to help those approaching their Golden Years.

For the body’s inner health:

• Many claims have been made for the daily consumption of a honey and vinegar tonic. The basic dose is two teaspoons of honey and two teaspoons of vinegar, stirred into a full glass of tepid water. When served with each meal, it seems to protect against the distressing features of aging. Those who do this on a regular basis seem to feel younger and more vigorous well beyond their years.

• Honey and vinegar seem to be a magical solution for sleeplessness. Stir a small amount of vinegar in a cup of honey. Administer by the spoonful at bedtime, and again whenever needed. It is a natural, time-tested remedy for this very common problem.

• Control weight loss by mixing two teaspoons of honey into a glass of water and drink 1/2 hour before each meal. You will melt away excess pounds.

• Banish migraine headaches by taking 2 teaspoons of honey with each meal and if you feel one coming on, a quick spoonful can help. Or… boil equal parts vinegar and honey and inhale the steam.

• To control the appetite, begin each meal with a fresh bowl of lettuce greens dressed with two tablespoons of vinegar.

• The pain of arthritis can be alleviated by taking one teaspoon of vinegar in a glass of water, four times a day.

• Kidney and urinary tract infections can be relieved by inducing two teaspoons of vinegar in a glass of water, three times a day.

• Gargle with two tablespoons of vinegar, one tablespoon of honey in one cup of tepid water. Add the juice of one lemon. Gargle regularly to kill the bacteria of strep, and other sore throat issues.

• Nagging coughs can be helped by mixing 1/2 cup of honey with one tablespoon of vinegar. Take by the spoonful as needed.

• Cure twitches and reoccurring muscle cramps in one week by taking two teaspoons of honey with meals.

• Sinus drainage can be greatly reduced by drinking one teaspoon vinegar, mixed into a glass of tepid water.

• One teaspoon of honey at bedtime helps to cure bed wetting.

• Dizziness can be relieved by drinking a glass of water with a splash of vinegar added.

• Soothe your discomfort of a hangover by taking a teaspoon of honey every hour.
